Inter-State Hardwoods Packed Boards

Finished wood products are only as good as the timber from which they are made. That’s why customers count on lumber manufactured by Inter-State Hardwoods for its exceptional quality and rich, true color.

Inter-State Hardwoods is located in Northern Appalachia—one of the most vast, natural environments for the production of fine quality hardwoods. They have decades of experience and expertise in crafting hardwood lumber used by some of the finest wood craftsmen in the world.

Consistency and color are two significant determinants of lumber quality.

Inter-State Hardwoods achieves consistency by sourcing the majority of timber from within 100-miles of the sawmill. This means lumber today and then again a year from now will be lumber from the same region, dried using the same process, and processed on the same equipment. This provides a consistent product with a clear face that is offered in random even lengths.

The colors of Inter-State Hardwoods boards are superior to those of many other suppliers. This is attributed to Northern Appalachia’s short growing season compared to other lumber-producing regions such as the Southern and Mid-Atlantic States. This short growing season restricts the uptake of the earth’s minerals; therefore, preserving more of the natural colors of the wood species.

Demand the Appalachian Standard

The Appalachian Standard identifies the four key aspects of Appalachian Hardwood species and what these attributes mean to wood manufacturers: sustainability, consistent quality, greater yield, made in the USA. On their own, each of these standards is important. In combination, they make Appalachian the point of comparison for all hardwood lumber needs.
